Members of the ALFA Board present the first of two
$5,000.00 contributions to the Houston Historical
Society’s Jail Fund. HHS members Celia Sampley
and Tom Denton received the check from Carl
Godsey, President of the ALFA Board of Directors.
Members of the Houston Historical Society are
seeking contributions to complete the capital
campaign to restore the Houston Jail. Contributions
have now exceeded the half way point with
reconstruction to begin in coming days. Contribution
envelopes can be obtained at any area bank
and from many retail stores in Winston County.

The Houston Historical Society was recently
awarded a $5000.00 grant from the Walker Area
Community Foundation to assist with the Jail
Preservation Project.  The Walker Area Community
Foundation provides funds for specific programs as
well as providing funding to local nonprofit
organizations to assist in community improvements
and new initiatives in the area.  For more information

website:www.wacf.org.  The Houston Historical
Society is pleased to receive the funding which will
help in the Jail Preservation Project.
